Another CXC breach in Jamaica

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) says the “fireproof cabinets containing examination papers for nine subjects scheduled to be administered this week, were stolen from a school in Jamaica” on Wednesday.

“This is of grave concern to CXC and the matter is being investigated by the Ministry of National Security and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). CXC is in constant contact with the Ministry of Education and Youth in Jamaica and an update was shared with the Ministries of Education from across the region at a meeting earlier [Wednesday],” a media release said.

The body is determining the course of action to be taken.

On May 17, CXC also launched an investigation into the leaking of a maths paper.

Registrar Dr Wayne Wesley later disclosed the breach occurred at a centre in Jamaica.

He also said the results of Paper 1 and the school-based assessment would be used to determine the grade of students, the preferred option, after they made it clear a resit was out of the question. (PR/SAT)
