Trinidad and Tobago’s A.S. Bryden & Sons Holdings Limited has acquired control of Barbados-based Stansfeld Scott (Barbados) Limited for an undisclosed amount.
A.S. Bryden, which is owned by Seprod Ltd, a regional manufacturing and distribution company headquartered in Jamaica, says it now owns 55 per cent of Stansfeld Scott.
In making the announcement, A.S. Bryden officials said the transaction “will allow A.S. Bryden to expand its premium beverage business outside of Trinidad for the first time”.
Stansfeld Scott distributes and retails wines, spirits and consumer health products here.
The company also operations six Wine World retail stores in Barbados.
Those involved in the deal said that outgoing Stansfeld Scott chairman Brian Cabral would retain an ownership stake in the company following the sale to A.S. Bryden and will continue to be a director.
It was further explained that Stansfeld Scott International, which distributes wines and spirits across the Caribbean and Central America, will not be impacted by this transaction.
This company is owned by Cabral and his partners Jayshree Kessaram and Indra Cabral.
A.S. Bryden chairman P.B. Scott, said, “Brian Cabral, his family and his team have spent decades carefully building Stansfeld Scott into the highest quality wines and spirits distributor and retailer in Barbados.
“We look forward to joining forces and using A.S. Bryden’s resources to serve Stansfeld Scott’s employees, customers and its principals,” the wellknown Jamaican businessman added.
A.S. Bryden’s purchase of a majority share of Stanfeld Scott comes nearly two years after it was bought by Seprod. (SC)
