The newly formed WIBSICO Freida Nicholls Zone was christened by Crane Resort Hilda Skeene Primary and Wesley Hall School who each won a division in the final zone of the 2023 Chefette Frosteez National Primary Schools Athletic Championship (NAPSAC).
Hilda Skeene overcame the challenges of Wesley Hall to seal the Girls’ section with 280 points, 34 points ahead of the latter, who finished with 246. Luther Thorne Memorial Primary ended in third place with 147 points.
A total of 295 points put Wesley Hall atop the Boys’ division, leaving Hilda Skeene trailing on 213 points. Ably assisted by the Victor Ludorum Tyler Gill, Luther Thorne completed the podium with 177 points.

For the first time in this year’s NAPSAC there was a three way split for the Victrix Ludorum title with each earning the full 30 points.
Omara Alleyne from St Bernard Primary was flanked by Hilda Skeene’s dynamic duo, Tia Dorne and Jaida Scott. Dorne shone in the Under-11 division, collecting victories in the 200 metres (32.08), 300m (53.61) and long jump (3.16m). Scott’s Under-13 dominance was displayed solely on the track where she won the 100 (13.98), 200 (28.61) and 600 (2:00.24). Alleyne was best among the Under 9s. She sprinted 13.03 seconds in the 80m, 16.52s in the 100m and 24.56s in the 150m.
He was challenged by Rajan Forde, nicknamed the “Maroon Flash” by his Wesley Hall schoolmates, but Gill was undoubtedly the standout male athlete on the day.
The 11-year-old earned his trophy with 28 points. He won the Under-13 boys’ 200m (27.00), 400m (1:05.58), and ran the second-best time in the 100m (13.28). Gill would later give spectators reason to question who was faster over 100 metres. Collecting the baton just after Forde in the 4×100 relay, he galloped past Wesley Hall’s finest to seal victory as his school finished with a time of 55:68. Forde was comfortably second but never looked like regaining his lead and made it in at 55:88.
The Under-7 division winners were Sariah Maynard (Holy Innocents’ Primary) who collected 22 points and Cazari Jordan (Wesley Hall) who put 24 points next to his name. The fastest boy among the Under-11s was Kristian Whitehall (Hill Top) who sprinted past the camera in 14.22 seconds in the 100 metres.
Zachary Griffith and Jahdiiel Blunt brought a lot of traffic to the field events when they competed in the open boys’ high jump. Happening during a lull in track events, the pair from Wesley Hall jumped the same height (1.25m) however Griffith emerged as champion having recorded fewer knockdowns. Griffith also threw 45.60 metres to win the Under-13 cricket ball throw.
The conclusion of yesterday’s action brought an end to the NAPSAC zone competitions where five schools swept both the boys’ and girls’ standings. The Semi-Finals will take place on Wednesday March 2nd with the 2023 NAPSAC ending on Thursday March 10th.
