Cow itch forces school to go online

Cow itch from a nearby pasture has forced the closure of Daryll Jordan Secondary School at Trents, St Lucy, until next week,

As a result, the school has obtained permission from Chief Education Officer, Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, to move to online classes in the interim.

Acting Principal Ken Layne told Nation News the menace should be cleared over the weekend.

“There’s cow itch in the lands to the south and southeast of the property and that cow itch for a couple of weeks now has been impacting the personnel on the compound and it just increasingly got worse.”

Layne said they contacted the Barbados Agricultural Management Company Limited (BAMC), which has responsibility for the property. The bush will be cleared and covered with soil.
