Lead investigator Inspector Dwayne Cumberbatch said no witness came forward stating that Hakeem Stuart was the perpetrator in a murder, and as such there was no identification parade or similar exercise to identify him.
The senior lawman was on the stand for the third day, this time being cross-examined by defence attorney Andrew Pilgrim KC.
While Cumberbatch agreed other evidence was important, he said the swabbing of Stuart’s hands for gunshot residue was done as procedure.
He added that when he first encountered Stuart at Rico John’s home in Kendal Hill, Christ Church, where he was arrested, the accused was wet from head to toe, “like he had a bath and just put on clothes”. He admitted this information was not previously disclosed, and he did not ask Stuart if he had washed off his hands. (RA)
