In a few days health officials will be hoping to educate and convince children to get vaccinated for COVID-19.
However, one of the coordinators National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign Dr Elizabeth Ferdinand said a major emphasis would also be placed on convincing parents, especially those in the 18 to 50 age range, who have been resistant.
“We’ve only vaccinated about 50 per cent of that age group [18-50] so we need to target those. They are the ones out and about, working, partying, and they are going all around and they are the ones who catch it and take it home to the older folks.
“However unfortunately they have comorbidities and they are dying as we can see from the figures,” Ferdinand said.
She made that statement, following Thursday’s arrival of 14 400 Pfizer vaccines for children 12 and under from the government of England. (TG)
