An 18-member team has been selected by the Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB) to represent the island at the 49th CARIFTA Games in Kingston, Jamaica next month from April 16 to 18.
The Barbados team, led by head coach Ramon Armstrong, will be hoping to equal or better the 2019 performance of 11 medals [three gold, four silver and four bronze] at the last event in Grand Cayman.
It’s a new-look squad, with 13 athletes expected to make their debut.
There are four people in the Under-17 division – Ashlyn Simmons, Kadia Rock, Fynn Armstrong and Daniel Duncan.
Kishwana Niles, Nya Browne, Shadae Worrell, Rickayla Fagan, Vivica Addison, Layla Haynes and Vanessa Greaves will compete in the Girls’ Under-20.
The Under-20 boys are Josiah Parris, Ross Walrond, Aren Spencer, Jahleel Armstrong, Amani Mascoll-Beckles, Nikkolai Kennedy, and Kevon Hinds. The team will be managed by Angela Jackson and the assistant coaches are Jamal Grosvenor and Stephen Taitt.
The medical team consists of Phyllis Burnett and Shonnelle Trotman. (AGB)
