A total of 681 people – 307 males and 374 females – tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, February 1, from the 2 600 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
The cases comprised 130 people under the age of 18 and 551 who were 18 years and older.
There were 171 people in isolation facilities, while 10 543 were in home isolation.
A 60-year-old unvaccinated woman passed away from the viral illness on Tuesday, at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.
As at February 1, the virus claimed 282 lives.
The public health laboratory carried out 542 580 tests since February 2020, and recorded 45 897 COVID-19 cases (21 276 males and 24 621 females).
Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 158 775 (69.5 per cent of the eligible population). The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 147 277 (54.3 per cent of the total population or 64.5 per cent of the eligible population).
