6 freed after lack of files

A week after a High Court judge cast blame squarely on the police for holding up court cases, six men had four-year-old matters, including possession of a firearm and shooting at people, dismissed because investigators did not produce the files.

The six, who were initially remanded but were on bail, were given words of advice by Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes.

Richad Barry Boyce, of 2nd Avenue, Kellman Land, Black Rock; Richard Shamario Worrell, of Derriston Road, Grazettes; Raschad Justin Bowen, of Gilkes Road, Fairfield Cross Road, Tudor Bridge; Renaka Kadeane Brathwaite, of Fairfield Cross Road, Tudor Bridge; Adigun Rabbi Hinds, of Madison Terrace, Deacons; and Malik Derick Fenty, of 2nd Avenue, Redmans Road, Deacons, all in St Michael, were back in court on eight charges yesterday.

They were jointly charged with damaging a window belonging to Rosanna Ifill on May 16, 2018, and recklessly and without lawful authority discharging a firearm along Fairfield Road, on the same date, in a manner which placed Quamie Miller in danger of death or serious bodily harm. (HLE)
