Barbados recorded 284 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, 122 males and 162 females, from the 1 087 tests carried out on Friday, May 20, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
The cases consisted of 76 people under the age of 18, and 208 who were 18 years and older. There were 82 people in isolation facilities, while 4 126 were in home isolation.
A 71-year-old female who was fully vaccinated died on Friday from the virus. As at May 20, there were 437 deaths related to COVID-19.
The public health laboratory has conducted 678 801 tests since February 2020, and recorded 78 732 COVID-19 cases (35 965 males and 42 767 females).
Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162 230 (71.0 per cent of the eligible population).
The total number of fully vaccinated people is 152 590 (56.3 per cent of the total population or 66.8 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
