2024 club tennis season serves off

The 2024 Barbados Tennis Association (BTA) Inter-Club Season gets underway on
Saturday February 24 with defending champions Tennis Centre looking to win their
third title in a row.

Pure Tennis will be joining Summer Hayes, Ocean View, Paragon, Yacht Club and
Tennis Centre as the sixth club to compete in this year’s edition of the competition.
Three time winners Windward Cricket Club, International Club of Barbados and the
University of the West Indies will not be participating in this year’s competition, having
missed out on last year’s competition.

Pure Tennis will also be sharing the National Tennis Centre in Wildey, St Michael as
their home venue with the Tennis Centre.

The tournament will follow the same format as last year with three Men’s Doubles,
two Women’s Doubles and two Mixed Doubles matches in the group phase.

Speaking about the format, Director of Tennis for the BTA Damien Applewaithe said
“They are going to play every Saturday over the next few weeks. There will be seven
doubles matches and the team with the highest number of games wins that fixture.
The team with the highest number of game points would determine their position in
the group standings. We look forward to weeks of action packed Saturdays and we
invite everyone down to the venues as each club has an open door policy for
spectators.”

The top four clubs will qualify for the semi finals on April 13 with the final slated for
April 20th. Those matches will take place at the National Tennis Centre in Wildey, St
Michael.

In last year’s final the Tennis Centre was victorious defeating Yacht Club in an exciting
final 49-41.
