134 new virus cases

Barbados recorded 134 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), 54 females and 80 males from the 737 tests carried out on Thursday, June 23, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases consisted of 13 people under the age of 18, and 121 who were 18 years and older.

There were 27 people in isolation facilities, while 924 were in home isolation.

One person, a 101-year old woman, died yesterday as a result of the viral illness. The number of deaths related to COVID-19 recorded up to June 23 is 473.

The public health laboratory has conducted 700 582 tests since February 2020, and recorded 83 524 COVID-19 cases (38 092 males and 45 432 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162 521 (71.2 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated people is 153 389 (56.6 per cent of the total population or 67.2 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older.  (BGIS)
