More women than men have been presenting with hypertension in Barbados, according to president of the Barbados Diabetes and Hypertension Association, Tyrone Lowe.
Addressing the findings, Lowe said although men were universally recognised to be at higher risk of hypertension, women in Barbados were at a higher risk. He cited several reasons, ranging from genetics, lifestyle and the mounting stress women faced in society.
This information was part of a wider presentation on The State Of Hypertension And The role Of Medications held by the association in observance of World Hypertension Day on Friday. (JRN)
