Former Barbados Football Association (BFA) presidential candidate Fabian Wharton has entered the ring as a heavyweight, this time challenging the incumbent Captain Al Walcott and seven others on Sunday, April 7 for one of the three vice-president positions.
No stranger to serving football in this country at the national level having held the positions of BFA council member and assistant treasurer in addition to serving Premier League Club, Brittons Hill as manager/coach for more than two decades, Wharton believes his chances are as good as any other.
“I just feel that the timing was right. A lot of people asked me about assisting and giving back to the football association and working with them in various capacities. Some people even asked me if I was interested in running for president. So, I just had a conversation with my family and they approved, so I said I would give it another go,” Wharton told Weekend Sport.
The other candidates vying for a seat as vice-president on the BFA board are old guards Jack Bovell, Ashton Chapman and Adrian Mapp as well as Christian Renwick, Rasheed Belgrave, Lisa Bannister and
Tricia Browne.
