The weather system located to the east-northeast of Barbados is becoming “slightly more organised”.
In a statement, the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) says it is continuing to closely monitor the area of disturbed weather associated with an elongated low pressure of 1008MB about 980 KM or 610 miles east-northeast of Barbados.
Although conditions remain marginally conducive, the system is not expected to undergo any rapid development and extended forecast tracks remain consistent over the past 72 hours, with a projected track well north of Barbados by Friday as it slowly moves westward to west-northwestward around 5 to 10 mph.
This system is not expected to directly impact Barbados, but wind speeds across the island are forecast to decrease. This is likely to trigger moderate to heavy afternoon showers over some sections of the island during the next two days. The BMS is strongly recommending that the public listens for daily updates.
The next update will be issued by the BMS at 6 p.m. on September 1, 2022. (PR/SAT)
