Two St Andrew men accused of wounding another, have given statements before Justice Elwood Watts, denying they were the aggressors.
DeWayne Antonio Smithwick, of Belleplaine Housing Area, and Devon Jamal “Josh” Boyce, of Belleplaine Main Road, have pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Wayne Watts with intent to do him serious bodily harm, or to maim, disfigure or disable him on July 18, 2018.
Both fruit vendors have denied a second count of unlawfully wounding the complainant on that same date and have gone on trial in Supreme Court No. 2.
Yesterday, accused Boyce told the court that on the morning in question he came outside doing his usual chores around the house when he saw the complainant, Wayne Watts, on the opposite side of the road. His co-accused Smithwick was coming down the road as well. (SD)
