It was a superb start for Chelsea Tuach as she advanced into the Round of 16 at the 2023 US Air Force Super Girl Pro 3000 surfing event which commenced yesterday in Jacksonville, Florida.
Tuach and fellow Barbadian Chelsea Roett did well in the Round of 64 but, unfortunately, the latter was unable to get past the Round of 32 at the world’s largest female surfing event.
Tuach was the first to break the wave, wearing a blue shirt in the Round of 64 in heat nine where she tallied a score of 11.63 which was good enough for second position. Just ahead of Tuach was Eweleiula Wong of Hawaii with 13.50 points.
Later in the afternoon, Tuach returned to the ocean, where she exceptionally stamped her authority, winning heat six in the Round of 32 with a commendable score of 14.60 to reach the final 16.
“I am feeling great. It was a challenging day. The conditions were very small and challenging for my first round, and I was happy to put a few waves together. At the end, with five minutes to go, I got two waves and then a third one, and they were all around the six, five range,” Tuach told Sun Sport. (ML)
