Top cop says safety the priority

With Crop Over 2024 coming to a close with a number of last lap parties this weekend, culminating with Grand Kadooment on Monday, Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce is assuring the public of their safety and security.

“We have been resolute in our performance in providing an elevated measure of security at the events and activities that have taken place thus far,” he said yesterday.

“The senior command team in the Police Service has continued to engage the general body of the organisation and we are fully committed to ensuring that all persons who will be participating in the remainder of the events such as Foreday Morning, Soca 5.0, Grand Kadooment and any such events that we have to police, can do so in a relaxed frame of mind, knowing that security agencies will be looking after their safety and security.”

The Commissioner noted the collaborative efforts between the Barbados Police Service and the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), whose members will be out in significant numbers at the various events. He added this joint effort is aimed at maximising the security coverage and ensuring rapid response to any potential threats. (CLM)
