Shontae ‘Tae’ Alleyne-Clarke, has defended her crown, winning once again the soca monarch title while Sakarah won in the calypso category in the Scotiabank Junior Monarch finals.
Each monarch won the top prize of $2,000.
Tae defended her title with ‘Bajan Ting’ which was well received by the audience
The competition, which started just after 7:00 p.m. was held at the Wildey Gymnasium to a relatively full house.
Trinity Clarke, for a second consecutive year, earned first runners-up. She also won best self-penned song with ‘ I Love Soca’.
Zari B secured 3rd place with ‘Get Active’ and Showman earned 4th place with We Doan Care’.
Sakarah, who was the first to perform in the finals, won the calypso crown with her song ‘Alexa’ while The Mighty Bit Bit was the first runners-up with ‘Drugs and Disobedience’. He also won the best self-penned song in his category. Potent placed 3rd with ‘Can’t Lash We’ and Danekia’s ‘Dear John’ got her 4th place.
