System could develop into a tropical depression

A tropical depression is likely to form out of the area of low pressure in the Atlantic.

The Barbados Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of the system located near 9N, 31W at 11 a.m. Saturday

Environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive for development this weekend and early next week, and a tropical depression is likely to form within the next few days while the system moves westward or west-northwestward across the central and western tropical Atlantic.

There is still some uncertainty in model guidance regarding the track and intensity of this system. Regardless of development, it is expected to be near the Eastern Caribbean sometime late next week.

There are currently no watches or warnings for Barbados.

The public is urged to stay alert for updates issued by the BMS over the next few days.

Mariners who venture far east of Barbados are advised to closely monitor the progress of this system over the next few days.

The next update will be at 11 a.m. Sunday. (PR/SAT)
