St. Kitts sends delegation to Taiwan

St. Kitts- Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley is heading a five-member delegation to Taiwan, according to an official statement issued.

It said that Hanley will meet with Taiwan Vice President Lai Ching-te to exchange views on bilateral cooperation and will also hold talks with Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.

The delegation will also visit several schools, industries, as well as a wind farm.

St. Kitts-Nevis is among a handful of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries with diplomatic relations with Taiwan that China regards as a renegade province.

The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1983 and the statement said that both countries have enjoyed close cooperation and exchanges in numerous areas including, education, social development, agriculture, medicine and public health, renewable energy, and information and communications technology.
The statement said that the delegation returns on Saturday.(CMC)
