Some still wary despite all-clear wary clear

While some St Lucy residents are cautious about their tap water, others are not convinced that the water is suitable to cook with or to drink.

They gave those mixed responses yesterday following an “all-clear” from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) after they discontinued a “Boil Water Notice”.

Despite some improvements, some residents of Husbands Drive said their water was still brackish.

“Today the water is better than it was earlier this week, but no, it cannot be used.

“If you wash clothes with that, you would find the clothes getting brown and sometimes it even smells rusty,” Husbands resident Leandra Benn said.

She said although she had been experiencing the situation for more than a decade, it was still not comfortable.

“It’s been very challenging. We have to buy water to cook and this morning I had to use a bottle of water to rinse my mouth. I recognise they are trying to fix it but we are still having the same issues,” she added.
