Six Men’s folk want benefits, minor hotel disruption

With a temporary road built in the Six Men’s, St Peter area to accommodate construction works related to the proposed multimillion dollar five-star hotel project set to be opened to the public from next Tuesday, some residents and business stakeholders are hoping that their community life would not be significantly impacted by the tourism development.

The Sunday Sun visited the area on Friday and some residents indicated that while they welcomed the proposal by the Pendry Hotel and Resort to construct a multi-storied property there, they did not want to be left out of any major decisions that might change the way things were done in their close knit community.

The residents also said they hoped to benefit from the construction of the proposed US$100 million investment.

The hotel will be located on the seaward parcel of land once occupied by luxury beach club Nikki Beach which opened its doors in 2017 and closed early 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. (AH)
