Barbados’ athletics season is set to begin tomorrow with the staging of the first track and field meet at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex in the absence of spectators.
The delayed start due to the COVID-19 pandemic has now been confirmed following a series of meetings with officials and stakeholders of the Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB)
“We are trying to start the season, and the emphasis is on trying, because with all the guidelines and requirements for vaccinations and rapid antigen tests, it is a new element that we will now have to battle with,” AAB president Catherine Jordan told Weekend Sport yesterday during a telephone interview.
Jordan said fans will not be allowed for the first meet but consideration will be made for the remainder of the season.” (AGB)
