The Barbados Equestrian Association (BEA) hosted the first leg of the FEI (International Equestrian Federation’s) 2024 Jumping World Challenge at the Whitehall Equestrian Centre earlier this month.
The annual challenge is facilitated by the BEA and allows local riders to compete over three competitions against riders in over 100 developing equestrian countries without having to travel outside of their countries.
The same courses are set and overseen by FEI qualified judges. Barbados’ own FEI judge Shakira Emtage was responsible for overseeing the international shows.
Monique Archer and her long-time international games partner Camross Diamond performed exceptionally well in the first round of the category B competition at 1.10-1.20 metres with no faults, but unfortunately the duo took one rail in the second round to end with four faults over the two rounds. However, they did Barbados proud by their solid performance.
