A beautiful soul who loved life.
That is how long-time friend Stacy Stuart remembers Dr Donna Matthew who passed away yesterday in Brooklyn, New York at age 48.
Matthew suffered a heart attack.
“Donna was just beautiful. She had a heart of gold, she had the biggest heart and a beautiful soul,” Stuart told The Nation. “She loved life, love beautiful clothing, took care of herself and she loved to share.”
Stuart, who operates Stacy Stuart Lifestyle, said they met 19 years ago when Matthew first bought clothes from her. They met again in St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church, and grew to become very close friends.
“She never used her title as a medical doctor, she never flew on that. She loved her life as her own individual, not as her profession.”
President of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners, Dr Lynda Williams, said they were saddened to hear of Matthew’s sudden passing, especially since she was quite young, offered a lot to her patients and was loved by them.
“To her family and friends. We offer condolences at this time of grieving and may she rest in peace,” Williams said.
Matthew was a graduate of Harrison College and the University of the West Indies. (SAT)
