Police believe they have made a breakthrough into an illegal water connection operation which has been plaguing the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) for several years.
Two plumbers, a former employee of the state-owned entity and a current one, were caught yesterday in a sting operation at a farm in Sanford, St Philip, in the process of making an illegal water connection.
The DAILY NATION was alerted to the situation when word spread that several police officers were spotted on the crop farm in the area.
A man was seen sitting on the ground handcuffed while another was in discussion with police officers. A team from the BWA was also on hand.
A police official said the operation was conducted in association with the BWA, with officers seizing several feet of poly-blue pipe and tools belonging to the BWA.
