If Game 1 can be used as a gauge, then it is anticipated that the Cooperators General Insurance Barbados Amateur Basketball Association Premier League three-best-of-five championship final will go down to the wire.
Burger King Clapham Bulls, the last league champions crowned in 2018 before the coronavirus pandemic, are at a 1-0 deficit following their 91-88 defeat to keen rivals Pinelands, who had a commanding 28-15, 44-39 and 65-58 lead in the first three quarters.
Played at the packed-to-capacity Barbados Community College on Thursday night, Pinelands, who have yet to drop a single game this season, were led by top scorer and centre player Deveron Knight with a game-high 26 points.
While the defensive plays were not the prettiest given the many turnovers, Pinelands managed to edge the reigning champions thanks to the likes of Knight and Carl Thorpe Jr with a contribution of 21 points. (ML)
