Phone thief agrees to pay $400

Shamar Renaldo Welch can rest assured there is one man who will probably never offer him a ride again.

This comes after he admitted stealing a cell phone from him which belonged to the State.

Yesterday, Welch was ordered to pay compensation when he reappeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

The 33-year-old general worker, of Rockhampton Road, Grazettes, St Michael, had pleaded guilty to stealing the $400 phone, on March 14, which belonged to the State in its rights as the Government of Barbados.

“This is bare foolishness that you did,” Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes told the thief. (HLE)
