One killed, three injured in Friday night shootings

Police last night launched an investigation into the unnatural death of a 23-year-old St James man whose body was discovered near a bar at Durants Village in the same parish.

He was identified as Jadan Joel Murray of Halls Village # 1.

Meanwhile, at least two of the assailants are believed to be injured after being shot by an off-duty officer while fleeing the scene.

Lawmen went to the scene after receiving the report via telephone around 9:05 p.m. of gunshots in the area and found the body with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

On further investigation, police learnt that a number of masked men had earlier opened fire on two men who were walking towards the bar. The second man was hospitalised with injuries. 

Two of the masked men sustained injuries while fleeing the scene. They opened fire on another man, an off-duty police officer. He was armed, and during the exchange, they were injured.

Police were still on still on scene carrying out investigations on Saturday into what is now the 29th homicide for 2024.
