Barbadians are being told to brace for a possible increase in oil prices following the sudden outbreak of war in the Middle East.
This caution comes from Minister of Foreign Affairs Kerrie Symmonds, who said the development over the weekend, in conjunction with the ongoing war in Ukraine, did not augur well for global energy costs.
Speaking at a Barbados Labour Party joint branch meeting of the three St James constituencies at the Queen’s College yesterday, he said Government was closely monitoring the situation.
“A noise in the Middle East is never a good thing, though they are hundreds of thousands of kilometres away from us. This is because the spike in oil, which this region continues to need to import, will inevitably knock on our door and impact us,” Symmonds said. (CLM)
