‘Nothing wrong with apologies’

by Tre Greaves

Do not be afraid to apologise to children.

Reverend Dr Sonia Hinds gave that advice to parents and guardians after stressing that very often adults also needed to say ‘I’m sorry’ for their wrongdoings.

“It is easy for us to blame the children but when we look at how situations have played out, children can’t behave in a certain way if our families and schools didn’t allow it. So sometimes I think we have to say sorry to our children. The forgiveness and repentance needs to come from us the adults because of some of the things we have allowed to happen,” Hinds said.

She made those comments yesterday during a service at St Leonard’s Church, Westbury Road, St Michael. (TG)
