Robbery and wounding accused Curtis Joel Foster signalled his intention to plead guilty at the High Court when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Foster, 37, of Bynoe Road, Rendezvous, Christ Church, is accused of robbing Elena Simkina of a passport and visa worth US$40 000, BDS$200, US$20, a cell phone, vaccination card, five bank cards, a medical insurance card, medical payment card, two drivers’ licences and other items on January 8.
Indictable
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge. Foster was also not required to plead to wounding Simkina with intent and wounding Polina Kazakova with intent, also on January 8.
Prosecutor Station Sergeant Vernon Waithe objected to Foster’s release on bail, citing the nature and seriousness of the charges and pointing out that the complainants were visitors.
He also told the court the accused had prior convictions for similar matters and that the prosecution feared if he was granted bail he might reoffend.
‘Mistake’
Foster later told the court: “I just want to plead guilty and get it over with.”
He said he had no other matters pending and that he had made a mistake. “I did gine through problems. I did home without any money. The bank end up locking my money and I end up getting put out,” he said.
Magistrate Manila Renee remanded Foster to Dodds Prison until March 7. (HLE)
