Students, teachers, and ancillary staff returned on Monday for the first day of the 2022-23 school year.
Education authorities will be hoping for a successful year for students after the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic caused several disruptions to the learning environment over the past two years.
The Ministry of Education, Tertiary and Vocational Training issued new health and safety guidelines that will enable school operations to return to close to pre-pandemic arrangements.
The school day will return to normal hours, and students will need to wear masks indoors at all times, but mask breaks will be permitted outdoors when needed.
The start of the new school year will also be marked by a relaxation of the uniform regulations because of shortages caused by supply chain delays.
Education authorities said this was in response from parents going into retail stores and being told that they cannot get uniform fabric or tailored school uniforms.
