New pump being installed at Hampton

On Tuesday night, the damaged pump at the Barbados Water Authority’s (BWA) Hampton Pumping Station in St Philip was removed, paving the way for a new one to be installed.

In an update from the BWA, senior engineer, Hector Marshall, said the station was online, working at 75 per cent production capacity.

“Crews continue work on the reinstallation of the replaced well pump, electrical cable and rising main. Once work on these is completed, the new pump will be put into operation. Late yesterday, the removal of the damaged pump was completed to make way for the installation of the new infrastructure today.”

The BWA reminded residents while work continued on the station, they might continue to experience outages or low pipe-borne supply and urged them to store an adequate amount of water for their households during this period.

The water tanker team will also continue to assist residents in the districts impacted in the interim. (PR/SAT)
