Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for St James Central, Kerrie Symmonds, says he is concerned about the ease of access for vehicles responding to emergencies in close-knit communities.
His comments were on the backdrop of a fire in his constituency last week, at Risk Road, which destroyed two houses and damaged two others. Symmonds told the Sunday Sun that the incident brought into sharp focus the need to create access to landlocked homes.
“The houses are very close to each other and there is a certain wisdom in the effort in unlocking the landlocked houses. When you do not have any pathway between houses and people cannot easily move between them, then there is severe difficulty for emergency vehicles, such as fire trucks, to get nearby,” he said. (CLM)
