More taking in the sights

Barbados’ tourist attractions are reporting an increase in business for the 2023-24 winter season.

Sites such as Harrison’s Cave Eco-Adventure Park in Allen View, Welchman Hall, St Thomas; Barbados Wildlife Reserve in Benny Hall, St Peter, and Andromeda Botanical Gardens in Bathsheba, St Joseph, said they felt bolstered by the numbers of people visiting them, both tourists and locals.

Chukka Barbados operates Harrison’s Cave. Country manager of Chukka Barbados Andrea Franklin said they were fulfilling their aim of being a destination for all ages.

“The cave is still our premier activity, in large part [due] to the demographics of the visitors to the island. We have older visitors, especially on the cruise lines, so they are still more comfortable with the cave but we are seeing a definite increase in terms of the zip line and the challenge course – there’s a lot more interest, not only from tourists but locals as well,” she said.
