The war against the increasing green monkey population shows no sign of slowing, however the battles are not always man versus animal; sometimes its man versus man.
In a recent case in Bagatelle, St Thomas, a monkey hunter, who requested anonymity, ran afoul of a particular household, the results of which spilled online and brought heated debate about how to deal with the primates.
This discussion is not a new one as there has always been opposing views held by farmers who say they are under siege by the monkeys and activists who are calling for more humane ways to deal with the problem.
But it is no longer just farmers under threat as in some neighbourhoods, people are living in fear. Such was the case in Bagatelle Yard a few days ago when neighbours invited the hunter to cull some of the monkeys in the area, which they said had been raiding fruit trees, attacking pets and livestock and showing little fear of humans.
