Michael ‘Mikey’ Hulsmeier’s road to recovery is likely to be long.
However, he is grateful for the amount of support he received after he was involved in a car accident on New Year’s Day.
During the incident, Hulsmeier, who is one of the two members of De Red Boyz, fractured his right hip, broke part of the acetabulum, and has been unable to walk.
Speaking to the Sunday Sun, he said: “I’ve been lying down for four months, and it has been really difficult mentally to stay positive. I spent three weeks in the [Queen Elizabeth Hospital] and eight weeks in skeletal traction, and we were hoping that would have worked, but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way.
He added: “Those measures didn’t do what everyone was hoping it would do because there is no simple solution, so I had to seek other means.
“I am quietly optimistic that everything will go as planned and that I can get into the physiotherapy aspect because that is going to be a long road too,” he added. (TG)
