The Met Office said today that an increase in surf activity on the West Coast could trigger a high-surf advisory this weekend.
The increase is the result of large northerly swells propagating into the marine area. The heightened surf activity should begin tonight, Friday, February 16, and last until Monday, February 19.
Sea-bathers and other users of the sea are advised to exercise extreme caution, particularly along the West Coast. If venturing into the water, ensure there is an on-duty lifeguard and secure objects that can be swept away by the breaking wave activity.
Surf activity is expected to be greater during high tide. (PR/KNB)
