A small craft and high surf advisory remains in effect for Barbados for above normal swell heights
This alert message is valid from 6 a.m., Monday March 14 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday March 16. It may be updated sooner if conditions warrant.
A small craft advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and/or sea swells of 2.5 to 3.0 metres (8 to 10 feet) are affecting the marine area within the next 36 hours.
A high surf advisory is issued when breaking wave action poses or is forecast to pose a threat to life and property within the surf zone during the next 36
Strong winds associated with the Atlantic High-Pressure System are agitating the seas mainly along the northern and eastern coasts of the island and will continue throughout the remainder of the week.
Swell height will fluctuate slightly during this period, however, seas are expected to be moderate to rough in open water with swells reaching maximum heights of 3.0m (10 feet) during the advisory period. (PR/SAT)
