To date, more than 75 per cent has signed up for skills training programmes being offered by Government to assist them in acquiring skills and certification in their areas of interest.
Some of the courses have already started and a number of institutions, including the Barbados Vocational Training Board (BVTB), the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute (SJPI), the Barbados Community College as well as the Ministry of Agriculture will be offering courses. Discussions are also underway with the private construction companies and other private sector entities to enrol them.
The programme comes to an end on March 31.
