Kiwis capture King of the Hill

New Zealanders Hayden Paddon and John Kennard once again displayed their Kiwi speed in international competition as they emerged victorious from Sunday’s First Citizen’s King of the Hill, the final shakedown before Sol Rally Barbados 2023 starts this Friday night at Bushy Park.

Hundreds of spectators lined the 4.2-kilometre course from Palmers in St Philip to Colleton in St John in sweltering afternoon heat to watch their favourite teams.

In the end, it was the Kiwis, currently leading the European Rally Championship by a stunning 37 points, who looked the most impressive over the three runs.

It was a largely uneventful day aside from Jermin Pope and Aaron Kirton’s scary-looking crash during the second run, which delayed proceedings as the crew and the wrecked vehicle received attention.  (NM)
