Killer going to trial on wounding charge

Convicted murderer Anthonia Windgrove Ellis will be going to trial on a wounding case that allegedly occurred on the same day he shot and killed Lorenzo ‘Pastor’ Joseph.

And he will be representing himself on the matter.

Ellis gave this indication when he appeared in the No. 4 Supreme Court yesterday.

Last month, Ellis, of Denny Road, Thorpes, St James, was convicted of murdering Joseph on February 16, 2019. He was gunned down in New Orleans, St Michael, in front of residents.

Yesterday, Ellis appeared accused of wounding Reo Walkes, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him, on February 16, 2019.

State Counsel Paul Prescod appeared for the prosecution.

The accused told the court he will be going to trial and representing himself in the matter.

Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell set September 19 as the next mention date.

She later set October 2 as the trial date, with October 30 as the alternate trial date. (HLE)
