“You must not be released until you die.”
With these words, Justice Carlisle Greaves threw the book at convicted murderer Shawn Leo Phillips, a man he described as “an evil dangerous stalker, rapist and murderer”, and a “dangerous danger to both men and women” as he dismissed suggestions that Phillips should be sentenced to 20 or 25 years behind bars.
The judge even dismissed suggestions that Phillips should get life imprisonment with a tariff of 40 years before he was considered for release, saying: “You are only 50 years old. Even at 90, I am not convinced you wouldn’t rape and kill again.
“Shawn Leo Phillips you are sentenced to a whole life sentence. To remove all doubt you must serve the rest of your natural life in prison,” the judge ordered. (HLE)
