Judge: Stay away from social media

New jurors to the No. 4 Supreme Court were given two pieces of advice yesterday – stay away from social media bloggers like Naked Departure, and spread the word that the delays in the criminal justice system were not the fault of the judges.

In addition, Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell told them not to expect CSI-type evidence in court.

She gave the advice as she welcomed the jurors to the start of the January Session of the Continuous Sittings.

“Wherever possible, try to stay away from social media, especially those bloggers or those social justice warriors who comment about cases that are in progress,” the judge said, adding if empanelled jurors were found to have visited the sites, it could result in a mistrial. (HLE)
