IMF updated on Barbados economy

International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials in the United States have been updated on the progress of Barbados’ economic reform and the performance of the economy.

IMF resident representative in Barbados, Patrick Blagrave, says this information will now be used by the IMF team to prepare for the fourth review of country’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) with the international financial institution.

He gave that update yesterday after a “check-in” meeting involving himself, Central Bank officials including Governor Dr Kevin Greenidge, and Government representatives.

Blagrave reiterated that yesterday’s meeting, which took place online with the IMF team based in Washington DC, “was part of the preparation for the upcoming fourth review mission”, and not an official staff review requiring further action by the IMF’s hierarchy.
