An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team is scheduled to “check-in” on Barbados’ economic performance tomorrow.
Before the talks get started, Central Bank Governor Dr Kevin Greenidge has asserted that the country “continues to solidify its economic growth”.
Patrick Blagrave, the IMF’s resident representative in Barbados, confirmed that “regular ‘check-in’ meetings between the IMF team and the Barbados authorities are scheduled for Monday – to be held virtually”.
“These meetings help keep each other apprised of developments in the local economy, and on policies. These serve to assist the IMF team in preparing for the subsequent Extended Fund Facility/ Resilience and Sustainability Facility (EFF/RSF) review missions,” he shared.
Blagrave said this “is standard practice, and is something we do ahead of all review missions”. (SC)
