The Daphne Joseph-Hackett Theatre in Queen’s Park, The City, was transformed into an interview hub with hundreds of Barbadians seeking the first 300 jobs on offer at the Wyndham Grand Sam Lord’s Castle Barbados resort.
Chief executive officer of Haigh Communications, Joyann Haigh, who is representing the Barbados Tourism Investment Inc., explained interviews were being conducted in three areas – management, line and supervisory positions. She said management applications had been submitted via email, with the deadline being Monday, and interviews for line staff and supervisory staff started from yesterday.
She said line staff interviews which started on Monday would end today, while supervisory interviews would run from Thursday and end on Saturday. However, prospective staff would be facilitated regardless of the category they were applying for, even if they arrived on a day not designated to them.
Haigh added that on Monday they had well over 500 applicants, but noted doors were closed off at 3 p.m.
“The interview process runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, so we encourage people to get there and be prepared for a little wait. There are a lot of people applying, but if you realise the line is long on a particular day, you can always come the next day but the overall process ends on December 10,” she said.
