Gospel artiste Hoszia Hinds is back on the scene with a new soon-to-be launched album, a new attitude, a new mission and a new ministry.
In fact, when Buzz caught up with Hoszia, who is on the island for a few months, the Canadian-based ordained minister wanted to ask his followers and anyone he might have offended over the years for forgiveness.
“If you are reading this, please forgive me if I have offended you in any way, form or fashion. I take this time to let you know that I am free. And whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”
Hoszia, who went through many challenges in the past and almost died when he took ill in Canada back in 2022, told Buzz that for the last five years, he had been in a place where, “I have been reshaping myself as a minister, a man called by God who went through quite a lot and stood the test of time with God’s help; despite the circumstances that arose.
The songwriter, whose song Giving Up Is Not An Option is among his most popular hits, disclosed that many people thought it was over for him back in 2022 when he fell ill. But he stressed how he persevered.
“I stood in the face of adversity, and I have to say that God brought me a mighty long way. I was so much looking forward to reaching out to my people, but a few setbacks had me in a position where I could not travel. Now I can travel through the nations again.”
Those nations include Guyana, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.
“I was in a dark place from 2022. After I released my album Rise Again in September of that year, I went through a period where I was hospitalised for a month. I could have died. It was truly a wake-up call for me to step back fully into my calling.
“God was already calling me not just to minister in Canada, but the whole world. The devil, however, was trying his best to kill me. I actually had to learn how to eat again and I had to have a blood transfusion. But God used what I endured as a testimony. The words of one of my songs say, “When I thought it was over, God was there for me.” He certainly was.
“I now find myself in a place where I am seeking God for direction. Some doors have opened, but one of the challenges I face as a returning artiste to my own country is that some people would have heard stories about me. They are still living in the past. But I am here to inform Barbados that I am not living in 2017.
“God has restored my life. I do not live in condemnation or judgement from people who love to scuba dive in the past. I am in the future. I know God has raised me up to be a prominent minister in this country and in the world and I refuse to let anyone say otherwise.”
Resonated with youth
Hoszia, whose music has always resonated with young people, admitted this to Buzz.
“I have a major impact on the block culture in Barbados, especially, due to my messages of hope; and I am recognised and accepted by a lot of the men on the block who know my music. I know I am very relatable by the youth.”
With plans to lend his support to the National Peace Programme initiative, Hoszia stressed, “I am here to let the young people of Barbados know I am not pointing fingers at them. I truly want to see them find the peace they are seeking. Most importantly, I want them to have a relationship with God.”
His latest 2025 album, titled International Love, with the song Turn My Life Around as the title track, will soon be available for viewing.
“We are currently trying to release the music video for Turn My Life Around, and Giving Up Is Not An Option could possibly go on that same album.
Come March 29, the gospel artiste will host a comeback concert Turn My Life Around. The new album, International Love, will be launched during the concert. (CH)
